about me

Hi, I'm Bidisha! I'm a singer, performer and a teacher of Indian music.  I love to perform several genres of Indian music including semi-classical, devotional, kirtan chants, folk & Indian fusion. I have also been teaching Hindustani classical vocal music for the last several years.

I currently work as a Lead Statistician at the University of Michigan, and live in Ann Arbor, Michigan with my husband and two daughters.

I love to teach music.  It is a way for me to give back to the musical community. Through my Youtube channel, I have created a platform where I am able to share my music with a global audience. It has been extremely rewarding and heart warming to see how this has made a positive difference in so many people's lives, and that this has created an opportunity and inspired thousands to learn music from the comfort of their homes.

Please do check out my Youtube channel here to be a part of my growing musical community. In addition to the many high quality free music lessons, I also offer live classes streamed via Youtube through the Youtube membership program on my channel. To give a brief overview about my musical background, I trained in Indian classical vocal music starting at a young age with my first guru, Mrs. Vaishampayan in Mumbai, India. She inculcated in me the love  to sing different genres of music, and also gave me many opportunities to grow and perform as a musician.  After I moved to the U.S. in 1998, I continued my training under the guidance of Padma Shri, honored Pandita Tripti Mukherjee (senior disciple of Padma Vibhushan Pt. Jasraj ji) from the Mewati gharana.
